[ARCHIVED] Council holding 3rd NPB University session at Thursday's meeting

Here is a summary of the key issues the Village Council will address at their meeting on Thursday, May 22 at 6 p.m. in Village Hall: 

  • Recognize National Gun Violence Awareness Day — Honoring efforts to prevent gun violence and promote community safety.
  • Recognize Water Reuse Week — Highlighting the importance of recycling water to conserve resources and protect the environment.
  • Hear annual ethics update from Palm Beach County Commission on Ethics — Reinforces the Village’s commitment to transparency and ethical governance.
  • Consider changes to a disaster debris removal agreement with Phillips and Jordan — Aligns Village pricing with the Solid Waste Authority to ensure readiness for hurricane season.
  • Consider increasing REG Architects’ contract compensation — Updates the agreement to continue design and planning services through fiscal years 2025 and 2026.
  • Consider zoning code changes for Commercial-Transition districts (1st reading) — Proposes new guidelines for business types allowed in the C-T district south of the Earman River to support modern needs and community character.
  • Consider approving Police Department purchase of tasers and training — A $275,191 investment over five years to equip officers with non-lethal tools that enhance public safety.
  • Attend the third “NPB University – Know Your Department” session — Offers a detailed look into the North Palm Beach Country Club’s operations, budget and future planning.
