[ARCHIVED] Council to consider applicants for boards and committees Thursday

Here is a summary of the key issues the Village Council will address at their meeting on Thursday, May 8 at 6 p.m. in Village Hall:

  • Recognize Municipal Clerks Week — Honoring the essential role clerks play in supporting transparent government and public records.
  • Recognize Public Works Week — Celebrating the teams who maintain roads, parks, facilities and infrastructure that keep the Village running.
  • Consider an interlocal agreement with the Treasure Coast Regional Planning Council — A $30,000 proposal to update the Citizens Master Plan and Strategic Plan to guide the Village’s long-term goals.
  • Appoint members to Village boards and committees — Reviewing applicants and filling seats on the Audit, Environmental, Pension, Library, Recreation and Waterways boards that support community services and oversight.
  • Consider, on second reading, updates to Village Code on Country Club operations — Clarifies hours and reinforces protections for the golf course, including limits on vehicle use and rules to prevent damage.
  • Review an updated parking agreement with The Benjamin School — Updates a longstanding agreement allowing school parking on McLaren Road right of way.
  • Hold “NPB University – Know Your Department” with Police and Fire — An in-depth look at how the Police and Fire Departments operate, spend and plan.
  • Hold a zoning workshop for Commercial-Transition districts — Exploring updates to a 1999 zoning code to allow modern business types in 11 properties, mostly along Alternate A1A.
