Captain Mel Lange is currently working as the Accreditation Manager for the North Palm Beach Police Department, North Palm Beach, Florida since 2005. Prior to that, he worked for the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, Fort Lauderdale, Florida for 19 years starting as a Road Patrol Deputy, and obtaining the rank of Captain.

Mel has been working in CALEA accreditation since 1985 as an accreditation team member and Accreditation Manager for the Broward Sheriff’s Office until he retired in 2002.

Mel has an Master of Business Administration in Justice Administration from the Golden Gate University, San Francisco, CA. He is a graduate of the University of Louisville Command Officers Development Course and is a Life Member of the IACP. Mel started his law enforcement career in the US Air Force in 1963 as an Air Policeman. He remained in the Air Force for a 20-year career and retired as a Master Sergeant.
