SFWMD Earman maintenance

The South Florida Water Management District is making improvements to the stormwater drainage system along the Earman River (also known as the C-17 Canal). Work will take place at Alternate A1A and in various locations east of Alt. A1A to the Intracoastal Waterway. It will be done in phases, with an expected completion date sometime in 2022.

In general, the work will consist of water control gate replacements, removal of vegetation and repairing canal slopes, control building replacements and various other related activities. Much of the work will be done in the dry season through April.

This kind of maintenance work is typically done on an average 40-year cycle. Anyone with questions or concerns is asked to contact SFWMD Supervisor of Regional Representatives Libby Pigman. Email: epigman@sfwmd.gov
